The Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) is now preparing for the 2020 Philippine Independence Day (PID) celebrations to be held at the Dubai World Trade Center on June 12 which will coincide with the 122nd anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence from Spain.
The PID is among the major programs under the 2-year plan submitted by the club’s Founding Officers and Board Members to the Community Development Authority (CDA) middle of last year as a requirement in securing the license to operate.
The CDA eventually issued License No. 112 paving the way for the launching of FilSoc on October 31 with the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn Quintana, Philippine Consul General to Dubai and Northern Emirates Paul Raymund Cortes, Philippine Labor Attache to Dubai and Northern Emirates Atty. Felicitas Bay, and CDA Senior Executive Social Events and Advertisement Permit Manager Amina Ahmad Ali Abdullah Ahmad.
The 2-year plan was presented at FilSoc’s first General Assembly last January 24 which was attended by nearly 200 pioneer members who concurred with the major programs and projects such as the Walkathon event on March 27 and the Filipino Youth Festival in April.
This month the club will have a series of team-building activities among the pioneer members who have already volunteered to contribute to any of the 10 committees presented at the general assembly. Overnight camping was held over the weekend in the Maleha desert area in Sharjah with more than 100 pioneer and new members participating.
