Over 200 Filipino staff working in Qatar Airways laid off unexpectedly due to Covid-19 spread

Some 200 Filipinos in Qatar have recently been laid off by Qatar Airways due to novel coronavirus.

This report was confirmed by Philippine Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello in a Reuters report.

“Ou labor attache is under strict instructions to determine what is the real cause of the decesion of management to retrench them on the basis of redudancy,” Bello said.

The laid off staff include those from engineering and maintenance department.
