Coronavirus patients who have been taking the experimental drug called remdesivir are seen recovering quickly.
According to a STAT News report, most patients who have been taking it in the hospital go home less than a week only.
The patients who have taken the experimental drug have all had severe respiratory symptoms and fever.
“The best news is that most of our patients have already been discharged, which is great. We’ve only had two patients perish,” Dr. Kathleen Mullane, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Chicago, said in the same report.
Currently, there’s no approve treatment or vaccine for Covid-19.
Remdesivir was already used before against Ebola with little success. It has also been studied many times that this particular drug can both prevent and treat coronaviruses related to Covid-19, including SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome).
