Facebook adds ‘hug’ reaction as world needs comfort during Covid-19 pandemic

-

A new reaction featuring an emoji hugging a heart has been released today by Facebook in response to coronavirus.

The ‘hug’ emoji will be added to the existing ‘Like, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry’ buttons.

The reaction has been rolled out on Messenger today with plans to launched it globally next week.

‘Hug’ button will be the very first addition to the current reactions which originally launched in 2016.

“We originally launched our set of reactions because people told us they wanted to express themselves in more ways than just through likes and comments — they wanted to be able to express how they felt,” Fidji Simon, head of the Facebook App, said in a statement.

With the rapid growing number of Covid-19 cases around the world, we all need a comfort just like a ‘hug’ emoji.
