Amb. Quintana thanks hundreds of volunteers
The Philippine Embassy in the UAE announced that its office has already started delivering food packs from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to Filipinos on self-quarantine.
These Filipinos, according to a press release posted on their Facebook page, are those who can’t go outside due to Covid-19.
The Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana and other leaders from different emirates. She praised the leaders for showing ‘bayanihan’ spirit in times like this.
The Ambassador also mentioned that there may be Filipinos who complain about the pre-requirements to avail the food pack so she asked private donors to fill them up, especially those who are not qualified to the assistance given by the Philippine government.
Currently, the Philippine mission is having dialogue with the Emirates Red Crescent and other private agencies to help those in need and those who are excluded from the Philippine government’s initiative.
“I believe in the strength and resilience of the Filipinos, our wonderful culture of Bayanihan will see us through,” Ambassador Quintana said.
