UAE employers required to get all staff tested for Covid-19 or face hefty fines

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has mandated employers in the capital to get all their employers tested for Covid-19.

In a The National report, DED’s decision covers retail, construction, and heavy industry.

A message was sent to managers and company owners, saying all workers are to ‘subect themselves to medical screening for Covid-19’ or face a fine and possible legal action for repeated delays.

“This came after noting that some companies’ owner did not commit to sending their workers for medical testing to ensure that they are not infected with the virus,” Rashed Al Balooshi, undersecretary at the department, said.

Workers who refused to be tested for Covid-19 are subject to AED 5,000 fine in the first instance.
