Health insurance for Filipinos, PhilHealth, is no longer mandatory for overseas Filipino workers.
President Rodrigo Duterte also said that payment for premium should not be a requirement for securing an overseas employment certificate.
In a press conference held earlier, Presidential Spokesperson said OFWs shall only pay PhilHealth contribution on a voluntary basis.
Earlier, PhilHealth issued a circular mandating all OFWs to pay 3% of their salaries to the health insurance.
