Salute to UAE firefighters! Zero casualties in ‘massive fire’ in residential tower

Sharjah authorities has reported zero casualties in a massive fire at Al Nahda’s residential tower.

The fire has erupted at the Abbco Tower at 9:04pm and debris and flames can be seen being blown by strong winds. There may be zero casualties, however, 250 families were evacuated from the tower, which was constructed in 2006.

The tower has 49 floors and the fire has started in the 10th floor.

According to reports, initial investigation shows that the tower was covered with banned aluminum composite cladding. This type of cladding, according to Brig. Ahmed Al Serkal, the acting director of operation room and director-general of forensic department at Sharjah Police, is highly flammable.
