A total of 171 returning overseas Filipino workers habe tested positive while they are being quarantined in a government-run facility in the Philippines.
According to Covid-19 response chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. the authorities have already received the 5,439 results from the 12,000 specimens that were sent to the laboratories of the Philippine Red Cross.
Galvez said in bomboradyo.com report tha there are 20,569 OFWs in quarantine centres that have been tested for Covid-19 through swab testing.
It was reported earlier that Deputy Chief Implementer Dizon that the government will prioritize the testing of some 25,000 returning OFWs this month.
Those who have tested negative for the virus will be allowed to go to their destination as soon as possible.
Galvez said that 5,268 of OFWs have tested negative while 4.4% of the tally tested positive for the deadly virus.
Meanwhile, 4,593 OFWs have gotten their quarantine certificates after completing the 14-day mandatory quarantine in the facilities in Manila.
