Kuwait to terminate expats holding municipality jobs only to be replaced by locals

-

The Kuwaiti government is planning to terminate expatriates working in their municipality only to be replaced by locals.

Citing the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas, Gulf News reported that an ‘unknown well-informed source’ said that the minister will meet senior officials in the ministry after the Eid Al Fitr celebrations to discuss the replacement plan mainly in administrative positions such as secretariat and registration in different sectors.

“General registration will be digitalized. Thus, there will be no need for a large number of employees,” the source was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

According to the Arabic paper, over a thousands of expats hold municipal jobs in Kuwait.
