The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) continues accepting applications for AKAP program or cash assistance program from overseas Filipino workers across the world whose livelihood has been affected by Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a ptvnews.ph report, they have already received more than 400,000 applications as of May 12, three times more than the agency’s target of 150,000 with an alloted budget of Php1.5-billion.
So far, 142,000 applications have been approved and USD200 or AED730 has been given to over 100,000 OFWs around the world.
In a previous report, DOLE has requested the Department of Budget and Management for an additional Php2.5-billion, however, only Php1-billion has been approved.
