A total of 465 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have tested positive for Covid-19, the National Task Force on Covid-19 confirmed.
The cases were the result of over 22,000 Covid-19 tests conducted by the Philippine Red Cross.
So far, the country has tested 30,000 OFWs.
Galvez admitted that the influx of OFWs poses a huge risk in the country. There are around 27,000 OFWs in Manila alone, and some 42,000 OFWs will be arriving in May and June.
He assured the president that Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana is already in talks with other agencies to address the problem. Lorenza has already ordered the relase of all OFWs who tested negative for the disease.
