OWWA launches ‘Uwian Na Portal’ for OFWs to expedite return to hometown

In an effort to expedite the return of OFWs who tested negative in the quarantine facilities to their respective hometowns, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) launched an online portal called ‘Uwian Na.’

“It’s a registration procedure for transport home for those who are negative in the PCR (polymerse chain reaction) test result and are in OWWA quarantine facilities,” OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said in a statement.

Previously, there were complaints from the OFWs who have returned to the country of being unable to leave the quarantine facilities amid testing negative for the novel coronavirus and having completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Cacdac said that the website,, will be able to organize the OFWs intro different batches depending on their provinces and hometowns.

“This is so we can group you depending on your destination so we can organize the booking or chartering if flights, and also so we know in which hotel you will be fetched,” he added.

To register, the OFW should be in the list of Philippine Coastguard’s list of OFWs who tested negative for Covid-19 and who are staying in the hotel provided by the agency.
