A top official from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) directed the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLO) worldwide to provide OFWs with food, medicine, and accommodation for OFWs in need and affected by Covid-19 pandemic.
Labor secretary Silvestre Bello made the announcement in light of the allegations that some recruitment agencies are depriving OFWs with food for over a month already.
“Hindi dapat mangyari yan. There is strict instruction that we (DOLE, POLO offices) provide all our OFWs food and medicine and accommodation. Hindi pupwede yan,” Bello said in a statement.
