OFWs in Middle East, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan can now barter pre-loved items for essentials

-

A bunch of Facebook groups have been launched on Thursday, May 28 for Filipinos abroad to trade their pre-loved items for essential needs now that almost every one is affected by the crisis brought by the novel coronavirus.

After the successful launching of the Amicable Barter Community in Dubai (ABCD), the President and Founder of the Filipino Institute Mr Gabriel John Rimado mirrored the initiative through Filipino Barter Community (FBC). This time, the coverage gets wide.

“In times of crisis, most of the people don’t have the means to buy food and groceries. You only have your pre-loved items that can exchanged with grocery items so you’d survive for another day,” Rimando said.

OFWs from Al Ain, Dubai, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Oman, Sharjah, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Ajman, and Saudi Arabia.

Pre-loved items will be exchanged without the use of any currency.

However, a few set of rules shall be followed by the members:

  1. Items being bartered shall include actual photos.
  2. Be honest with what you’re bartering–state if it’s brand new, authentic, worn out or extensively used.
  3. Mention what you want your items to be exchanged for.
  4. In the caption, the one posting shall include their specific location, preferred date and time.
