A top official from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Dubai revealed several reasons why OFW application for the AED730 cash assistance applications are rejected.
Labor Attache Felecitas Bay said in a Facebook interview with Kalayaan 2020 some applications are rejected because their officials found out that they were not terminated due to novel coronavirus.
“Kaya nga ang nakalagay doon is the employment was affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Bay said, noting that during evaluation, their staff found out that there were applicants who were terminated due to other reasons and not because of Covid-19.
“Kasi if you’re terminated as early as December or January, at mayroong reason yung employer bakit ka na-terminate hindi naman nakalagay doon na pandmic,” she added.
She also reiterated that visit visa holders and OFWs who experienced salary reductions are not included in the program.
“We are not saying na hindi kami naniniwala. Kaya lang may mga bagay tayong dalat klaruhin. Like kagaya nung salary reduction pala, hindi naman sya no work no pay. That’s one thing that we have to explain to the individual na hindi daw nya alam na hindi kasali yung salary reduction. So we consider OFW ineligible or hindi sya qualified. Naiintindihan niya yan kasi ine-explain naman natin. So yung mga naka visit visa, ine-explain natin na hindi pwede kasi naka visit-visa,” Bay said.
