As many returning overseas Filipino workers tested positive for Covid-19 even after undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine, Bong Go’s Balik Probinsya program has been suspended.
The trips will be temporarily suspended for at least a month to allow the government to focus on ‘more important’ efforts, like the return of stranded individuals to their hometowns.
“I decide as a matter of strategy to suspend our rollouts of Balik Probinsya to prioritize stranded OFWs, construction workers, students and tourists,” National Housing Authority General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. said.
Escalada is also the executive director of the Balik Probinsya program.
