Arab jailed after raping a Filipino man who has been in Saudi for just 8 months

-

An overseas Filipino worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was raped by an unidentified Arab man who stole his Iqama or residence permit. The victim was just working in the host country for eight months.

According to a report on GMA News’ ’24 Oras’, the victim, whose name was also withheld, was just buying some stuff in a grocery store when he was approached by the suspect.

The victim, who is currently working as a waiter, was forced to give his iqama and ride the suspect’s car.

Because the victim cannot speak the Arabic language and wanted to get the document back, he went with the Arabic man.

“Sabi ko o sige sasakay ako ng kotse mo basta ibigay mo lang yung iqama ko. Tapos pagsakay ko ng kotse, doon na napilitan na ako,” the victim retold.

“Noong time na yun, I was really vulnerable and weak. Hindi ako nabigyan ng chance na lumaban kasi yun nga nauna yung takot ko, he added.

After the incident, he immediately asked for help from his workmates and asked them to report the situation to the police.

“Nagpunta na kami ng pinakamalapit na presinto. Inimbestigahan kami kung ano nangyari mula umpisa hanggang matapos. Nakuha yung pinaka-hitsura ng tao pagkatapos noon, the next day, doon na nakuha yung tao kaagad,” he said.

The Arab man is currently detained and a case is being prepared against him.
