Filipino group in UAE to recognize ‘Ulirang Ama’ and here’s how to nominate one

In time with the Father’s Day celebration this year, the Filipino Institute and The Global Filipino Magazine will pay tribute to well-deserved ‘haligi ng tahanan’ through ‘The Global Filipino Ulirang Ama Awards.’ 

“This year, we’ve decided to pay tribute to the fathers abroad who are playing exemplary role as fathers to their families, as well as achievers who had had significant contribution in their professional career, in the society, and in general,” Mr. Gabriel John Rimando, president and founder of the Filipino Institute and editor-in-chief and publisher of The Global Filipino Magazine, said. 

The Global Filipino Ulirang Ama aims to promote the values and traditions of Filipinos by paying tribute through a search for model fathers in the host country. 

Additionally, it aims to inspire Filipino fatherhood as they become role models in the society fostering integrity and high moral principles. 

This year’s celebration will be celebrated virtually. 


To qualify for the award, a nominee will be chose through the following criteria: 

1. He must be a Filipino

2. He is presently in UAE and concurrently employed, practicing profession or is an entrepreneur in UAE. 

3. He is a compassionate husband to his wife and a responsible father to his children with known moral and wholesome upbringing for his family. 

4. He must be recognized as a just member of the community and has imparted significant contribution through his social and community involvement. 

5. He must be an integral part of the corporate work, and is proven to have contributed to the promotional and developmental upliftment of the company, gaining respect and harmony amongst the workforce and peers, both in the management and the rank and file. 

Nomination procedure

The nominator for the awards must submit the biographical data or CV of the nominee to determine the latter’s personal data, achievements in profession or career, socio civic activities and awards, the identity and accomplishments of their spouse and children, and other important details.
