-

An official from the Department of Labor and Employment confirms that about 170,000 OFWs across the globe have received the Php10,000 cash assistance.

Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said in a CNN interview that the cash aid is part of the Php2.5-billion allocated to help 250,000 beneficiaries.

Currently, there are about 354,000 OFWs affected by the pandemic, including 191,000 who are still overseas.

In Dubai, as of the first week of June, more than 6,000 displaced OFWs have already received AED730 cash assistance through Philippine Overseas Labor Office.
