The Department of Health in the Philippines warned the public against using steam inhalation or ‘suob/tuob’ to kill Covid-19.

In a Facebook post made today, June 25, the health department said that steam inhalation with salt, lemon, etc will not help one recover from Covid-19 and this process is not proven to prevent one from getting the virus.

“Maging ang CDC (Centres for Disease Control) at WHO (World Health Organization) ay mariing pinabubulaanan na ang steam inhalation at nakagagaling ng Covid-19. Wala pang siyentipikong pag-aaral sa ngayon ang nakakapag patunay nito,” DOH said in a statement.

Moreover, steam inhalation may cause the virus to spread through ‘aerosolization’.
