Amid being Covid-19 hotspot, Cebu city community holds Sinulog dance presentation

-

Residents of Sitio Alumnos in Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu, have been spotted celebrating the Sinulog dance presentation despite being part of one of 12 barangays in the city classified as Covid-19 hotspot.

Photos of the celebration have been uploaded online prompting authorities to deploy more policemen in the area to implement strict quarantine measures.

“He is not in favor of the activity. We know this is for Sr. Sto. Nino but we have to take caution especially that the number of our Covid-19 cases is growing,” Barangay Basak San Nicolas’ Facebook page posted.

The city is under enhanced community quarantine due to the spike of Covid-19 infections over the past few weeks.

Cebu City Councilor Edu Rama said the ‘unauthorized’ celebration of the religious event is in clear violation of ECQ protocols.

“This is completely unacceptable and puts everyone at risk,” Rama posts on Facebook.
