New visa rules have been introduced in the UAE today, including the cancellation of extension of expired residency visa until the end of December 2020.
In a new resolution, the UAE Cabinet has approved the cancellation of the decision regarding the validity of residence visas for expats, who are in or outside the country, and if their visas expired between March 1 and 31, 2020.
This means that the validity of visas and entry permits for those inside the country from March 1, 2020, until the end of December of this year has now been canceled, including the extension for Emirates identity cards.
“All the decision related to the residency of expatriates, visas, entry permits, and ID cards are stopped with effect from July 1, while the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) jas been assigned to collecting the fees due for providing the services from July 12,” the circular from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs read.
A grace period of three months is granted to the Emiratis, GCC citizens, and residents in the country for the renewal of their documents.
This new amended resolution will come into effect from Saturday, July 11, 2020.
