The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that as of July 13, more than 80,000 overseas Filipino workers are already back to the Philippines due to Covid-19 crisis.
The total number of land-based and sea-based OFWs repatriated since February, according to DFA’s statistics, is 80,729.
The repatriation program for distressed and displaced OFWs is being led by the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (OUMWA).
“The DFA remains committed to promoting and protecting the welfare of overseas Filipinos wherever in the world,” the statement read.
