A senior immigration officer has recently clarified that UAE residency permits holders have a three-month grace period as of July 12 to renew their documents and avoid fines.

“UAE residency permits are now being renewed again and people have three months to renew their residency as of July 12. Fines will be imposed by the end of the grace period,” Brig. Khamis Al Kaabi, the official spokesman for the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, said in a local interview.

Al Kaabi was referring to residents with permits that expired after March 1.

He added that those residents outside the country will only have one month when they arrive in the emirate to renewal their documents before administrative fines are imposed.
