As hundreds of stranded expats returned in the UAE daily, the authorities warned them that they’ll get slapped with AED50,000 if they happen to break quarantine which ranges from seven to 14 days.

“When returning to the UAE, follow the federal and local guidelines for Covid-19, you must download and activate the Al Hosn app, follow the UAE quarantine guidelines and test procedures, which vary depending on the destination that the traveler is coming from,” the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority explained.

The duration of quarantine can vary from seven days for UAE residents arriving from low-risk countries, or 14 days for travelers coming from high-risk countries.

“Residents will be directed to complete quarantine guidelines for a period of 14 days (either at home or in an institution if their homes are not adequate). All costs for quarantining and medical assistance, whether at home or in another designated facility will be at the cost of the individual primarily,” NCEMA added.
