Former Senator Bongbong Marcos is now consulting his legal team, with the filing of legal charges already ‘on the table’, after Rappler’s report posted on July 15, alleging him seeking the services of Cambridge Analytica to rebrand the image of the Marcoses.
“Rappler has again resorted to peddling lies and fake news against the entire Marcoses in their vain attempt to dilute the serious credibility issue that has corrupted their worthiness,” Atty. Vic Rodriguez, the spokesperson of Marcos, said in a statement that was published on his official Facebook page.
Marcos’ team called the article ‘patently fake, false, and misleading.’
Atty. Rodriguez further said that the former senator has never reached out to Cambridge Analytica, and was only made aware of its existence through reports of its controversial activities in the media.
“This move by Rappler to besmirch the former Senator’s and the Marcos family’s reputation speaks to the kind of insidious reporting espoused by its convicted founder Maria Ressa. The timing of this news story is nothing more than a ploy meant to drum up support for their beleaguered news blog site,” he added.
