Philippine Embassy in UAE clarifies issue on gov’t paying overstaying fines of OFWs


The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi has recently released a statement clarifying the initial statement of a top official of the Undersecretary for Migrant Worker’ Affairs (MWA) about the shouldering of fines of overseas Filipinos in UAE. 

In a Facebook live, Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for MWA, she had earlier stated that the Philippine government will help those who have overstayed in the UAE by paying their fines. 

“The Undersecretary was referring to immigration penalties and other related charges in highly meritorious cases related to securing exit visas or passes,” the statement from the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi read.
