Philippine Embassy in UAE clarifies issue on gov’t paying overstaying fines of OFWs

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi has recently released a statement clarifying the initial statement of a top official of the Undersecretary for Migrant Worker’ Affairs (MWA) about the shouldering of fines of overseas Filipinos in UAE. 

In a Facebook live, Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for MWA, she had earlier stated that the Philippine government will help those who have overstayed in the UAE by paying their fines. 

“The Undersecretary was referring to immigration penalties and other related charges in highly meritorious cases related to securing exit visas or passes,” the statement from the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi read.

  1. Ask ko lang po- yong visa nang pinsan ko sa Sept.-3, 2020 mag expire- wala na ciang work since March 2020- close na saloon/beauty parlor. Kaya di maka uwi walang pera pamasahe.
    Question: Kung mey naawa at ikukuha cia ng ticket-hanggang ticket lang ang kayang ibigay eh – pero ang date ng murang Flight is for example mga October 15 or November 5 pa- mey penalty na ba ciang babayaran sa Airport?
    Puede bang tumulong ang Embassy para ma Waive ang penalty?
