DOLE official claims 80,000 OFWs in UAE have already received the AED730 ‘ayuda’

-

A top official from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is claiming that more than 80,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the UAE have already received the one-time financial help from its DOLE-Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (DOLE-AKAP) program which is Php10,000 or AED730.

The latest figures meant that the Philippine government has already allotted some Php800,000 to OFWs in the UAE.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III was quoted as saying by The Filipino Times that they have already consumed about Php2-billion for OFWs across the world, as more than 200,000 OFWs around the world have already received the one-time financial aid.

“Nakapag-payout kami ng a little over Php2-billion, meron pa tayong Php300 to 400-million na ipapamigay sa ating mga OFWs na apektado ng Covid-19,” he added.
