Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello revealed that one of the top priorities of President Rodrigo Duterte is the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Bello shared a private conversation he had with the president when he was asking for additional funding for the AKAP program.

Kaya naman I confident na pagdating ng panahon, maibibigay ito sa atin,” Bello was quoted as saying by The Filipino Times.

He also mentioned that the top official has provided additional funding worth Php1.5-billion for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program when the department realized that there were over 300,000 applicants as compared to their initial estimate of 150,000.

“The president loves OFWs, so that time, he immediately added Php1-billion to our budget. Kaya nagkaroon kami ng Php2.5-billion,” he added.
