POLO-UAE: AED23-million approved for release for the financial assistance for OFWs

Around Php318-million (or AED23-million) has already been approved for release for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program, The Filipino Times reported.

The newly approved budget is expected to benefit 31,800 OFWs in the UAE.

As of July 19, around 9,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have already received the AED730 cash assistance.

Meanwhile, the number of OFWs in Dubai who have received the one-time financial assistance has already reached to 14,050 as of July 16.

In total, some 23,050 OFWs across the UAE have already received financial aid.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Abu Dhabi revealed that there are already about 12,000 approved AKAP applications, which means that some 3,000 OFWs have yet to received the AED730.

Meanwhile, the total number of AKAP applications that have been approved by the POLO-Dubai is now at 19,802, which means that 5,752 OFWs haven’t received the cash assistance yet.
