As the staff of ABS-CBN and its supporters continue to hold noise barrage, three funeral wreaths have been sent to its station in Cagayan de Oro.
The funeral wreaths were sent on Saturday evening by an anonymous sender coupled with a message of support and addressed to the network, National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP), National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL), Anakbayan and Kadamay who were tagged as leftists.
During the noise barrage, the workers and supporters of the network were calling out the 70 congressmen who voted against the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise, leaving thousands of workers jobless.
According to a security guard at the regional station, the wreaths were delivered by the staff of a flower shop.
The move was condemned by the NUJP and called it as part of ‘red-tagging’ in the Philippines.
“[We] demand that the Cagayan de Oro police investigate and track down those responsible for delivering funeral wreaths to the ABS-CBN station there on Saturday evening, July 25,” NUJP’s statement read.
