An OFW who is all set to return to the UAE has tested positive for Covid-19 a day before her flight, The Filipino Times reported.
The OFW, whose name was withheld, is the first confimed Covid-19 case in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique. She arrived in the Philippines last March.
As part of the new rules set for returning expats, she underwent the swab test on July 23 and came out last July 26.
The result of the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) showed her positive for the virus.
Ten of her family members have tested negative in their rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) which were conducted on Monday.
Meanwhile, seven of her friends and relatives who attended her despedida party have been placed under home quarantine.
“The seven others (patients exposed to the OFW) were with the patient only last night [July 26] because she was supposed to have a despedida or farewell party,” Antique’s Municipal Health Officer Dr. Melba Billones said.
They will undergo the RPT-PCR test within seven days if they show any Covid-19 signs and symptoms.
The report did not mention how the OFW contracted the deadly virus.
