The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in the Philippines has released a statement on the explosion in Beirut that claimed the lives of many people, including two Filipinos, and injured thousands more.
The sudden explosion has also injured eight more Filipinos while 12 are still missing.
“The Philippines extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the Lebanese Government and people, especially those who have been affected by this tragic event,” DFA wrote.
Rescue teams are continuing to search through rabbles at the port, believing that people remain trapped.
At least 100 dead has been confirmed and 4,000 have been wounded as of this writing.
