Chairman of DOH in UAE among the 15,000 volunteers who received China’s Covid-19 vaccine

- Advertisment -

Fifteen thousand volunteers in the UAE have recently been injected with the first two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine as part of the country’s clinical trial.

The volunteers will receive their second dose of the inactivated Covid-19 vaccine within the next few weeks.

“This is a very proud day for everyone associated with these trials and we are looking forward to continuing to play an integral role in the work to come in the months ahead,” Dr. Abdul Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention in UAE, said in a statement.

The agency reveals that among the first volunteers to receive the vaccinations was Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, chairman of the Department of Health Abu Dhabi.

Over 15,000 volunteers from 107 nationalities have registered for the clinical trial of the inactive vaccine in the country, among those registered were 140 doctors and 300 nurses.

The vaccination for Covid-19 that was injected to the volunteers was developed by China-based pharmaceutical company Sinopharm.
