A government official in the UAE said that the National Sterilization Programme may return following the continuous increase in Covid-19 cases.
The country recorded 210 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, followed by 229 on Monday, 365 on Tuesday, 435 on Wednesday, and 461 cases on Thursday.
“It is possible to reinstate the national sterilization programme in some areas if there are high numbers of Covid-19 cases,” Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesman for National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) was quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.
UAE has seen an ‘alarming increase’ in Covid-19 in the last two weeks. Cases have doubled in the past five days. The authorities are blaming the continuous increase in family and social gatherings.
The health authority has reminded the public to observe social distancing and wear face mask always to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
