The Department of Health said that crushed domolite rocks in Manila Bay could cause eye irritation as well as respiratory problems once inhaled.

When ingested, one can also acquire gastrointestinal illnesses.

“Mayroon pong mga sinasabi sa mga pagaaral na kapag na-inhale natin ito, ng mga tao, may mga adverse reactions–sa respiratory mainly,” Health spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a statement.

The government health official also noted that once it’s ingested, one may suffer stomachache and diarrhea.

“These are minor effects ng dolomite na nilagay doon sa Manila Bay,” she said.

Vergeire clarified that one cannot get these illnesses with just one visit to the Manila Bay. However, she urged visitors to exercise caution.
