Dubai-based airline Emirates is set to reinstate full salaries for all staff starting next month, chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum confirmed.

With flights suspended for over six weeks, hospitality and aviation industries have been some od the hardest-hit during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the course of the pandemic, several employees in the airline company were asked to take voluntary unpaid leave and find new employment.

“You will be relieved to know that from October 1, we are reinstating full basic salaries across the board. This does not mean we are out of the woods–there are many challenges ahead in an environment of considerable uncertainty, and we will need to respond accordingly and decisively,” Al Maktoum said.
