Popular department store in Dubai shut down, gets AED50k fine for not following Covid-19 rule


The Dubai Economy has recently ordered the closure of a department store in the emirate and fined with a hefty fine of AED50,000 for the failure of complying with Covid-19 protocols. 

According to a press release posted on Dubai Media Office’s official Facebook page, the department store, Day to Day, has been ordered to close and slapped with a glaring fine due to its lack of compliance with Covid-19 measures, specifically physical distancing measures, during the launching of its promotional campaign on Tuesday, September 8, The Global Filipino Magazine can reveal. 

The launch of its promotion has drawn a huge crowd inside the store. 

The Dubai Economy has called on businesses and other shops in the emirate to follow protocols set by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19. 

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) in the UAE has reported 883 new Covid-19 cases yesterday with two more deaths related to the virus.
