The Dubai Court of Instance has recently sentenced a 40-year-old Arab man to one year in jail for robbing an Iranian businessman AED1-million. He was also ordered to pay a AED1-million fine and will be deported after serving a jail term.

The Arab man, who’s a visit visa holder, snatched the briefcase with the cash from the businessman with an accomplice who is still at large.

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old African man who accused of possessing AED459,000 which is part of the stolen amount while aware of where it came from, has been referred to the Court of Misdemeanors.

The Iranian businessman recalled how he was robbed near a hotel in Deira around 2:30 PM.

“I want to meet the first defendant at his office to strike a commercial deal. I brought AED1-million that I kept in a briefcase with me. As I was waiting there in my car, an African man, posing as a security guard, told me he would lead me to the defendant’s office. But he suddenly snatched the bag of money from my hand and fled the scene,” he was quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.
