A 60-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was stranded in Kuwait has finally arrived in the Philippines, thanks to his friends who raised money online.

Sergio M. Bolonias was reportedly asked by a friend to be his guarantor for a long, however, he had to shoulder its payment after his friend went home to the Philippines and never came back.

The OFW, while in Kuwait, had a kidney tumor and arthritis. According to a GMA News report, Bolonias had to stop working after suffering these illnesses and had suffered financial difficulties since then.

Through his kababayans, they were able to raise money for his flight ticket going to the Philippines.

They chipped in for his flight expenses while others bartered their goods online.

Bolonias, hailing from Cebu, is a driver-mechanic for 20 years.

“Kung hindi dahil sa taong tumulong sa akin, kung hindi dahil sa kanila na nagpagod at nagpuyat, hindi pa siguro ako nakakauwi hanggang ngayon or kahit kailan,” he said.
