The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced the exemption of all types of electric vehicles from paying public parking fees for two years.
The exemption, according to a Khaleej Times report, has come into effect last July 1, 2020.
Owners of electric vehicles licensed in Dubai will be automatically exempted from the parking fee and need not obtain an exemption from the traffic agency.
“Targeted vehicles can be automatically detected. Upon entering the number of a plate of the vehicle, the parking inspector will verify if the vehicle is electric or otherwise, and accordingly subject to parking fees exempted, thanks to the online link between RTA’s parking and licensing systems,” Engr. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, said in the report.
