The Dubai Police force has recently nabbed a South African visitor who was allegedly involved in a AED320,000 robbery in the country.
According to local reports, the man was tracked down by the Dubai Police in just 24 hours after he, along with four other men, robbed a villa at the Al Rashidiya area.
The owner of the villa, a 37-year-old Emirati, reported the robbery last August after his safe containing AED250,000 worth of jewelry, and AED70,000 in cash went missing.
“I saw the lights on and discovered there was a robbery. I called the Dubai Police and entered the villa with them. My father’s room was in a mess and the police told me the suspects had broken into the villa from the back window,” he said.
Although one of the defendants attempted to leave the country, the Dubai Police were still able to catch them.
“He admitted of robbing several houses along with the other suspects. We found the stolen items and arrested the other suspects also. They climbed the villa’s parametre wall and broke in,” Dubai Police sian in a statement.
