The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is extending help to the household service worker who was allegedly maltreated by the Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro.
“Just sent her P200,000 to tide her over. She doesn’t have to do or say anything about it. It’s hers for being what she is: an OFW. Plus, it’s her tax money,” DFA Secretary Teddy Locsin tweeted.
I am reaching out to her with financial help right now as an OFW, without any conditions because we are DFA not animals; we help the helpless period, no exchange; helping is its own exchange. It is our job to help. https://t.co/HWq6RKL7U0

In the CCTV footage revealed by a Brazilian TV outfit, it shows the Philippine government official punching and slapping her own helper.

The domestic helper’s sister has already broken her silence, condemning the maltreatment of Mauro.
“Wala siyang awa. Kawawa naman yung kapatid ko. Ginaganyan niya. Dapat siyang makulong. Sabi ko po grabe naman, bakit ginanyan mo kapatid ko? Pareho pa naman kayong Pinoy, kawawa naman,” she said in an interview with GMA’s 24 Oras.
