To further assist displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the government of the Philippines has added a P2-billion fund through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
DOLE, in a statement, said that starting today, November 30, OFWs who will be repatriated back to the Philippines can file their application for the Abot Kamay Ang Pagtulong program prior to their arrival to the country.
It added that the financial assistance will be given within three to five days. It aims to give one a one-time P10,000 or $200 cash aid.
Those temporarily and permanently displaced from work can apply for the financial assistance program by registering at oasis.owwa.gov.ph.
“This will shorten the waiting period of OFW applicants as they are now allowed to apply while still on-site and receive the financial assistance once they come back to the Philippines,” labor secretary Silvestre Bello III said.
