3.8 million Filipinos lost jobs in October, PSA revealed

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed that there are some 3.8 million Filipinos in the Philippines who lost their jobs in October 2020.

The new data represents 8.7 percent of the current unemployment rate in the country. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate was now at 14.4 percent.

As ranked, Metro Manila has the highest unemployment rate, while the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has the lowest.

“There remains a lack of transportation. It’s still a factor that people cannot get to work,” PSA said.

The current data showed that it is slightly lower compared to July and April data.

The unemployment rate in July was at 4.6 million, while in April it was 7.6 million.
