UAE fixes new system on roads to detect seat belt violators, mobile users starting Jan 1

- Advertisment -

Starting January 1, many seat belt violators and mobile phone users while driving will be caught by the new systems installed in Abu Dhabi roads.

Traffic authorities in the capital have developed the new Vehicular Attention and Safety Tracker (VAST) in an effort to decrease road accidents and boost road safety.

The radar monitoring system captures high-resolution images, via artificial intelligence cameras as part of the new system. This feature will be able to identify seat belt and mobile phone violators on the road.

Once caught on the camera, the driver, or the violator, will receive an SMS notification directing them to rectify their behavior immediately.

“The Abu Dhabi Police is persistent in its efforts to promote safe driving practices and protect human lives by implementing traffic laws,” Maj. Gen. Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director General at the Abu Dhabi Police, said.
