Some 80,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are expected to go back to the Philippines in the first half of 2021, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) estimated.
To date, around 370,000 displaced Filipinos have been repatriated due to the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
With this, OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac assured that the agency is ready for the expected influx of arriving Filipinos.
“Sa ngayon po, one to two days, lumalabas na ang resulta ng kanilang swab tests,” he said.
“Nakikita natin na nag no-normalize na yung pag-alis ng mga kababayan natin. Nakikita natin na umakyat na ng 20 percent to 40 percent and deploymment ngayon,” he said referring to the deployment of OFWs.
