It’s not Christmas yet but the gift-giving has already started yesterday, December 18, at the Dubai Business Village in Deira during the Bayanihan Festival 2020 celebration.

The event concluded with an early gift-giving, talent presentations, and a jam with an actress from the Philippines via live stream.

During the opening, Chairman of the Bayanihan organization, Architect Jason Roi Bucton, said that the celebration has already been a tradition for the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

“It’s a celebration of our diversity, of our uniqueness, of our individuality, as we gather as one towards a common goal. The very definition of the bayanihan spirit. This year, amidst the challenging times, the valuable and commendable traits of Filipinos arise,” Bucton, who has already moved to the Philippines, said in a video.

He also said that 2020 had brought the good in humanity as he witnessed kabayans helping one another and leaving no one behind.

“As we bid 2020 with all the challenges, we are hopeful for a brighter 2021, as we say, this too shall pass,” he added.

For him, Bayanihan Festival 2020 symbolizes resiliency and hope. “We will not stop because of Covid-19. We will move forward,” he further added.
