A hotel cleaner in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah will be jailed for two months after he was found out peeping into an Arab couple’s suite.

Citing a Khaleej Times report, the male hotel guest saw the cleaner looking into their room. He immediately reported the violation to the police.

The Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court ruled the man guilty.

The complainant also took the case to the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Court, seeking compensation for the moral damages he and his wife experienced.

“We paid extra money so that my wife and I can have privacy at the hotel, and yet this happened,” he said.

The civil court has ordered the hotel staff and the hotel to pay AED50,000 in compensation, in addition to settling court charges and lawyer’s fees.
